When focus is placed on educator safety training...

  • The risk of injury can be lowered

When staff are properly trained on how to keep themselves safer in the classroom injuries can go down. When injuries go down so do workers' comp claims, missed days, and staffing problems.

  • Staff retention may improve

The cost of replacing staff who leave specialized programs is real — these positions are hard to fill, and every departure can create a gap that has to be covered in the meantime. When staff feel safer though, fewer may leave or ask to be placed elsewhere.

  • Fewer complaints and grievances might be lodged

When staff feel safer in their roles, it can mean fewer formal grievances and fewer union rep conversations to manage.

Course Curriculum

Risk Assessement

Develop the ability to quickly evaluate environmental hazards and behavioral cues to make informed choices that prioritize the physical safety of both staff and students during a high-risk encounter.

Protective Positioning

Focuses on body mechanics, stance, and spatial awareness strategies that help staff maintain a safe distance and minimize the physical "target" area, reducing the likelihood of accidental or intentional injury.

Injury mitigation strategies

Practical techniques for responding to sudden physical movements or high-intensity behaviors, ensuring staff can protect themselves and others effectively while remaining within professional and safety guidelines.
